The iconic red wax capped bottling that made Howell Mountain a classic.
One of Napa’s great style mediators. Adored by collectors, sommeliers, and neophytes alike. Winemaker Randy Dunn was the winemaker responsible for kickstarting the gold mine that is Caymus but ascended Howell Mountain to create his own winery Howell Mountain in 1978 (retiring from Caymus in 1985). Dunn is one of the original wise men of Napa and was one of the instrumental figures in the development of the Howell Mountain AVA. The wines are densely colored, muscular, and brooding classics. More so, they are powerful, rugged wines that are exciting to drink young, but also reward decades of aging. Along with Heitz “Martha’s Vineyard”, Dominus, and a select few others, each vintage of Dunn Howell Mountain merits an immediate placement in your cellar.
"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is sure to make Dunn fans happy. Powerful and ample, it marries the natural intensity of the year with the savoriness that makes Howell Mountain Cabernets so distinctive. Dark blue/purplish fruit, graphite, spice, leather, dried herbs and lavender imbue the 2017 with striking intensity and character. I can't wait to see how it ages. The 2017 is a positively stunning edition of the Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon." - 97 Points, Antonio Galloni - Vinous Media
