Sixth-generation wine-maker Pierre Seillan, working with Jackson Family since 2003, understands the terroir of this property – a natural amphitheater with south / southwest exposure, clay dominant soils with varying proportions of limestone – which allows him to work hand-in-hand with nature each vintage to craft the best, most authentic wine he can.  We are lucky to be able to offer you three different vintages of this wine: 2012, 2014 and 2018.  In every vintage Merlot plays the dominant role, with strong support from Cabernet Franc and, to a lesser extent, Cabernet Sauvignon. 2012 was a challenging year from start to finish, with flowering disrupted, heat and drought in the summer, and torrential downpours in the fall. While this meant disaster for many wineries focused on Cabernet Sauvignon, the more agreeable Merlot fared much better. Expect these library-release wines to drink beautifully now, with red and black fruit aromas and complexity from both age and uneven ripening of the grapes. In 2014, the region experienced a cooler spring, followed by summer rains, which required meticulous work.  The wines are fresh and mineral, with red fruit character and fine-grained tannins.  The 2018 vintage, in contrast, began particularly rainy, but experienced a warm, dry summer – ideal for extravagant, powerful and age-worthy wines. The wines still have freshness, but are characterized by black fruits and rounded tannins.
