This wine comes to us from Jean-Claude Daguenau, who's son, Didier, now makes the most expensive Sauvignon Blanc in France. Jean-Claude farms a tiny 2ha plot for this cuvee. The vines there range from 40-50 years old and generally give very low yields for Sauvignon Blanc (30hl/ha for the super-nerds out there). The wine ages extensively on fine lees and is not released until a full four years following harvest. Given its peers in the world of aged Sauvignon regularly retail above $100, it's the perfect gateway bottle into the style's umami-driven allure.
