2019 Vincent Paris "La Geynale" Cornas

Vincent Paris immediately deserved a watchful eye when the cellars were constructed in 2001. As the nephew of Cornas legend Robert Michel, he was able to learn from and acquire a selection of his uncle’s old vine vineyards. The Granit 30 is composed of his younger vines and completely destemmed, while the Granit 60 is a blend of two lieux-dits with vine ages ranging from 50-100 years. These are full and robust examples of Cornas, traditionally made with no new oak. The warm, ripe 2018 vintage should drink well immediately, but also should suit longer aging. The Saint Joseph has always been a great value in warmer vintages, and has been a sleeper favorite of ours for a weeknight Syrah. We also have a very limited amount of La Geynale, a 0.73ha plot of Robert Michel’s with vines planted in 1910. This has always been a steal for the value.
