QUINTESSENTIAL BOURGUEIL WITH BACK VINTAGE PEDIGREE
No else represents what's great about the Loire like Catherine & Pierre Breton. Their family domaine has been farmed Biodynamically since the 90s and championed smart minimalist winemaking before the current natural wine craze hit. Now, they're looked at as leaders among natural winemakers and the Loire more generally for the simple fact that their low-intervention, terroir driven wines age terrifically where other natural wines don't.
The 2020 Trinch! (pronounced like the sound wine glasses make when they clink) is the Bretons' bistro wine. Made from their younger vines (which are still 30 years old), and aged with no wood at all, it aims for maximum freshness. Expect notes of raspberry, perfume, roast pepper, and cherry clafoutis. The 2019 Nuits d'Ivresse is the Bretons' special old vine, zero added sulfur cuvee. The name translates to "Drunken Nights" and it represents how even a seriously concentrated oak-aged wine should maintain its sense of spontaneity. Finally, we're excited to offer back vintages of the Bretons' most prized parcel, Les Perriers, along with a single vineyard Chinon from the Les Picasses vineyard no longer farmed by the Bretons. Both of these wines are picked at ultra low yields and spend 2 years in old foudre with no fining or filtering. They represent the pinnacle of serious Cabernet Franc. -WP
