The Colin family is one of the premier family names in Burgundy. Pierre Yves Colin Morey is likely the most well known for many of you, but there are several other members of the extended family tree that produce exquisitely collectible wines. If the PYCM-side of the family tree focuses on flinty reduction and needlepoint precision, the Bruno Colin and Philippe Colin brothers' are larger-scaled wines with greater fruit amplitude, texture, and mid-palate density. I have tasted both sets of these 2022s, and can warmly recommend them. Our pricing is also quite nice compared to the market!
92 Points Burghound: "This is the first wine to display any appreciable reduction. More interesting are the dense and delicious medium weight flavors that also exhibit a subtle minerality on the balanced and mildly austere finish that isn't quite as persistent, though that may of course change with a few years of bottle age."
94 Points Neil Martin, Vinous: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers ler Cru is another slightly reduced wine on the nose. There's more yellow fruit here and resinous/waxy scents that surface with aeration. The aromatics develop nicely in the glass after 20 minutes. The palate is well-balanced with a crisp line of acidity, overtly spicy with a slightly resinous finish. This is a Chassagne with complexity and length. Great potential. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting."
