Hexamer's Nahe Rieslings are emblematic of the region's central positioning within the stylistic hierarchy. They're neither as lean and racy as Mosel, nor are they as opulent and tropical as the Rheingau. Even better, they release this Quarzit Reserve with each annual offer, and it's one of the great values in aged German Riesling. At just about $30 for a 13-year old bottle of wine in perfect condition, this should move fast. The style is off-dry to medium-sweet and the sugar is well incorporated to the point that it should convince sugar haters to take a second look. Subtle dried quince, orange oil and honeycomb supplement the wine's freshness with the complexity of age, and the purity of fruit if striking for this price point.
