I should start by saying that you won’t be able to find this wine either unless it’s here. There is zero online availability in the USA, and it was procured off of a special pre-order from the importer. The style isn’t a direct replica of López Blanco, whose white wine has achieved unicorn status. However, Bodegas Ostatu’s wine resembles the mushroom, umami, and caramel-driven things that I love about R. López de Heredia’s whites. They just have a bigger frame. If you’re a fan of the textural promiscuity of Northern Rhône Whites, López’s sweet coconut and herbaceous oak profile, and dried mushroom depths this is for you.
