About This Wine
Barrio was Pato's oldest vineyard at the time he made this. It's head-trained Baga vines 80 to 100 years old, in a parcel so gnarled and misaligned it couldn't be worked mechanically. He grubbed it up in 2004. The 2000 is one of the very last harvests ever taken from those pre-war vines. The vineyard sits beside Vinha Formal in Óis do Bairro on a pocket of intensely chalky soil, giving Baga of unusual elegance and lift. Raised about twelve months in large-format Allier oak and bottled unfiltered.
