2007 Lopez de Heredia "Vina Tondonia" Reserva Red Magnum

Not much can be said about these wines that hasn't already been said. If you haven't had them and consider yourself a wine connoisseur, you're missing a few checkboxes. Any study of Rioja begins and ends with Lopez. Bodegas Lopez de Heredia is the premiere traditionalist of the Rioja region, with an immense library of wines dating back to the 1940s and earlier. The winery has its own cooperage (barrel production) on site. The house style maintains the winemaking trends of the early 20^th century with used, old American Oak barrels, lots of oxygen and racking during winemaking, and extensive, long elevage before release. The Crianza from Lopez de Heredia is A DECADE old before it even becomes commercially available! These are the more Burgundian, mushroom and umami-driven side of Rioja and are absolutely adored by collectors, enthusiasts, and sommeliers across the planet. Quantities limited!
