Still a white wine despite the use of the term Gamay, which is a reference to a tiny hamlet underneath this vineyard which the grape was named after. The most age-worthy and mineral-inflected of the bottlings. Always shows well after a few years.
THE MAYOR OF SAINT-AUBIN¦LITERALLY: HENRI PRUDHON
Historically the most important producer in Saint-Aubin, Henri Prudhon was the mayor of Saint Aubin until his passing in 2009. Coincidentally, his son has now taken over as both winemaker AND mayor of Saint-Aubin. This estate has enough history in the heart of white Burgundy country that even the Ramonet estate itself was formerly known as Ramonet-Prudhon. These are truly classic, affordable, and timeless white Burgundies that have never fallen into any fad, trend, or stylized rendition (*cough* reduction *cough*). The wines edge into a leaner style, mostly owing to their origin in the upslope and cooler Saint-Aubin village, as (2018 & 2019) both warm vintages, the 2019 shows a bit fresher, they provide a keen balance and early-drinking approachability to the wines. - BF
