Description

We're always excited about Santa Barbara wines around here, and Presqu'ile's Old World style reds and whites are some of our favorites. With vines located just 16 miles from the Pacific and 1,000 foot elevation, these wines are a far cry from the big, ripe wines of Napa and instead capture the elegance more commonly associated with Burgundy and the Northern Rhône. Agriculture runs in the family at Presqu'ile, like many legendary winemaking families, but not in the way you would expect; the Murphy family farmed land in Louisiana for four generations before moving to Santa Barbara to pursue viticulture. This producer is particularly special to me since they are also Louisiana transplants, and they still keep the spirit of home with them in their new life in California. They named their vineyard and winemaking project Presqu'ile after the Creole name for a small peninsula off the Gulf Coast that served as their longtime friends and family gathering place until Hurricane Katrina devastated the region in 2005. After moving to Santa Barbara, the Murphys wanted to honor the special meaning Louisiana and that family home held to them by carrying on their love for Presqu'ile in their new life as winemakers. That love is felt in all their bottlings, and combined with their meticulous hands-on viticulture and thoughtful winemaking produces some of the greatest Chardonnay, Syrah, and Pinot Noir in the region.

The Syrah is one of the best value driven Syrahs you will find, period. It's full of all the smokey, gamey, peppery notes you want in Syrah, and with 25% stem inclusion it also has all the elegance and perfumed violet notes evoking Côte-Rôtie . It's sourced exclusively from their Presqu'ile vineyard and is priced much lower than it should be for how much complexity and depth of flavor you get. At home in Louisiana, one of the traditions is for people share their love through cooking, and the Murphy family has continued that tradition in the Central Coast by sharing their love of home, agriculture, and wine through Presqu'ile. - Kelly Rau

Orders are generally ready within 1-2 business days, but you can always email or call us for a status update.

Need your wine fast? Just call us! We can expedite the order and may have it ready in less than an hour.

Houston Orders

After checking out, you will receive a pickup confirmation email when the order has been pulled and packed. You can pickup your wine at our shop at 2301 Portsmouth Street in Upper Kirby, Houston.

San Antonio Orders

Until the new shop opens in San Antonio, we can transfer or ship wine to San Antonio. At checkout, choose Pick Up in Houston, and email us and we will transfer or ship your wine to San Antonio free of charge.
