Duncan Arnot Myers and Nathan Lee Roberts make wine with the intent to show a new side of California, one that reflects a world outside of super-ripe Cabernet and high alcohol. They run their project out Healdsberg, but source grapes from a number of California's greatest terroir with an intent to make lighter, more Burgundian styles of wine with more retrained fruit and a greater emphasis on minerality. While they may seem radical to some with their experimental grapes and early harvesting, Duncan and Nathan consider their wines to just be classic and retrained expressions of pure California. Longtime childhood friends that grew up in Napa Valley, they began making wine in 2001with the intent to share the joint passion and love for California's remarkable vineyards. While Napa is home, they also source grapes from some of the best sites across the entire state, including Sonoma Coast, Sata Cruz Mountains, Santa Rita Hills, Clearlake, and the Sierra Foothills.

While Duncan and Nathan do not farm all their vineyards, they ensure that each grower is dedicated to dry farming and carefully managed. Winemaking is also just as judicious, as they prefer to use indigenous yeast and harvest earlier than most to ensure grapes retain high levels of acidity to balance all the California sunshine ripened fruit. The wines are beautiful and honest expressions of place that truly reflect the essence of each vineyard and what makes each growing region of California special. Their Northern Rhône inspired Syrah is their calling card and is full of the wine that put them on the map, full of dark black fruits, gamey meat, and olives with some lifted aromatics of lavender and sage. The vivid and elegant Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays are also not to be missed and will show you how much Burgundy-minded winemaking can really shine in the California sun.
