The Colin family is one of the premier family names in Burgundy. Pierre Yves Colin Morey is likely the most well known for many of you, but there are several other members of the extended family tree that produce exquisitely collectible wines. If the PYCM-side of the family tree focuses on flinty reduction and needlepoint precision, the Bruno Colin and Philippe Colin brothers' are larger-scaled wines with greater fruit amplitude, texture, and mid-palate density. I have tasted both sets of these 2022s, and can warmly recommend them. Our pricing is also quite nice compared to the market!
91 Points Burghound: "An expressive, ripe and fresh nose features notes of resin, rosemary oil, petrol and apple compote. There is both excellent punch and mid-palate density to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that are less refined and less mineral-driven yet offers notably better complexity. Worth checking out."
90 Points Neil Martin, Vinous: "The 2022 Chassagne Montrachet Village has a slightly conservative bouquet that needs encouragement, opening nicely with green apple, nettle and light limestone scents. The palate is well balanced, with good concentration and fine depth considering this is a Village Cru. A bright, spicy finish lingers in the mouth. This constitutes a well-made Chassagne Village that should age well in bottle. Tasted at merchants’ 2022 Burgundy tastings in London."
