About This Wine
Join us in adventuring through cool-climate Australia with a tasting event that brings together two of the nation’s most precise and celebrated producers — Shaw + Smith (Adelaide Hills) and Tolpuddle Vineyard (Coal River Valley, Tasmania).
- Tolpuddle Vineyard is one of Australia’s rising single-vineyard legends. Located in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley, Tolpuddle was planted in 1988 and produces only two varietals — single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir — both of which have gained international attention for their aromatic intensity and purity. The vineyard sits on northeastern-facing slopes, with light silica over sandstone soils, offering low disease pressure, slow ripening, and remarkable balance.
- Shaw + Smith, founded in 1989 by Martin Shaw and Michael Hill-Smith MW, is regarded as a benchmark for cool-climate winemaking in the Adelaide Hills. With a philosophy built around “site + season,” they deliver wines that combine tension, elegance, and expressive fruit. Their Chardonnay “M3” is particularly celebrated for its crisp acidity, layered texture, and refined oak integration.
