Para Grand Tawny is the result of careful blending of individual vintage parcels, patiently matured in oak barrels within the historic cellars of Seppeltsfield, to achieve an average age of 10 years. Lifted aromatics of praline, vanilla nougat, espresso, toasted Atherton almonds (a specialty of Queensland), orange zest, and salted chocolate.

By the AOC Selections Wine Team:

We are excited to offer our new drop from the Aussie legend, Seppeltsfield! They are the most notable fortified Aussie producer and quite literally one of the most historic estates in all of Australia, since they began in the Barossa Valley just 15 years after the European settlement of South Australia in 1851. While Barossa is now known for Shiraz production, its history has been dominated until the last few decades by production of fortified wine. Seppeltsfield is proud to carry on this legacy through its production of fortified wines and is far and away the most notable producer of these old and rare fortified bottlings in the Barossa. These have become an AOC Team favorite and we are excited to share them with you!

From our friends, importers, and Master Sommeliers Jane Lopes and Jonathan Ross, “It is rare for one of the oldest wineries in a region to still be one of the most cutting-edge and prolific. No one has done more for the Barossa region than the Seppelt family, in particular in fostering a unique Australian style of fortifieds that are elegant, nuanced, and astoundingly fresh. Since 2007, under the care of Warren Randall, there has been a renewed focus on the still wines of the estate, which are quickly becoming benchmarks of the region.”

Famed Australian wine writer James Halliday said of Seppeltsfield: “These wines have no parallel anywhere else in the world. The conjunction of 100 years of devoted stewardship and climate/ terroir/ varieties have had an outcome that can never, ever, be duplicated.”
